FAMILY VALUES


Our story begins almost 50 years ago when five young and enthusiastic members of the Marcantonio family got together and pooled their resources to form a new company, Marcantonio Foods Ltd.

At that time the five cousins could not have imagined that the company they created, would become one of Europe’s leading suppliers of cones, wafers and other ice cream related products.

In reality the family’s history in cones and wafers goes back even further to our grandfather Luigi Marcantonio, who in 1893 left his home in Italy’s Abruzzi Mountains, to try to make a better life for his family in England.  Within two years and with very little money he began producing some of the first rolled sugar cones ever seen in the UK.

Over the next four generations the Marcantonio family continued to build their reputation within the industry, through Luigi’s sons, grandsons, and eventually through his great grandchildren who currently manage Marcantonio Foods.

Throughout the company’s history the directors have tried to maintain a family feel within the business while also maintaining the highest standards of quality, integrity, and service to their customers.

In 2017 Waverley Bakery - another strong family business - merged with Marcantonio Foods, which allowed the directors of both companies to share ideas and opportunities and develop new markets within Food Service and the Retail Trade.

Although Waverley and Marcantonio are now part of a much larger organisation, the current Directors are determined to ensure that the traditional family values that have been the company’s hallmark for more than 120 years, will continue to be at the heart of everything they do now and in the future.
